Peer Advisory Group is engaged with industry professionals that are well-known and recognised in large-scale project delivery.
To name a few, below are the large scale projects that require special engineering, project delivery expertise and commercial acumen, where our consultants and engineers have been engaged in:
The SLR project was delivered to serve the city of Sydney. The network currently consists of three passenger routes and plays a key role in shaping the city’s future by transporting thousands of customers.
The network is managed by Transport for NSW (TfNSW), with day-to-day operation contracted to Transdev.
In 2021, approx. 14.1 million passenger journeys were made on the network.
Peer Advisory's engagement on the Sydney Light Rail project has been rewarding and challenging in equal measure. Responsibilities included the leading of all commercial aspects of the Independent Certifier (IC) package, which included:
The primary objective of the ATP project is to successfully design, install, test and commission the “European Train Control System (ETCS), Level 1 Limited Supervision” to enable the successful operation of the respective fleets and to improve safety across the electrified rail network. The ETCS is operating within the Sydney Trains and NSW Trains network and satisfies all safety, operations, technical and business requirements.
Replacing traditional trackside signalling equipment with the latest ‘in cab’ train control technology (European Train Control System Level 2) Implementing Automatic Train Operation, which assists drivers to provide reduced and more consistent journey times. Introducing a Traffic Management System to help the railway recover from any disruption quickly and manage the overall network as effectively as possible.
These projects were created as a major NSW Government initiative to incorporate new technologies into the NSW rail system in support of an ICAC recommendation following the “Waterfall incident”.
As part of the Digital Systems Program, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is rolling out new technology to upgrade Sydney’s rail network - the NSW Government allocated over $800 million towards the first stage of the Program.
The Program will replace current signalling and train control technology with modern and internationally proven systems, which will help improve reliability and increase capacity on Sydney’s railways once implemented widely across the network.
The new system changes the way train drivers receive signalling information, so instead of relying on fixed traffic light signals outside the train, the driver responds to digital information received within the train cab.
As part of this scope of works, TfNSW awarded UGL the contract for the Digital Train Radio System (DTRS) - the project consists of design, development, construction, integration, commissioning and testing and Through-Life-Support (TLS) of a global system for mobile communications-railway (GSM-R) private communication network for train safety and control throughout Transport for NSW’s entire electrified rail network.
Peer Advisory Group was involved in the negotiation and procurement of the DTRS contract with UGL.
The US$34-billion Ichthys LNG project is one of the most complex and significant energy projects in the world.
Operated by oil and gas company INPEX and co-owned by TOTAL, this world-class development includes complex offshore and subsea facilities, gas and condensate field located offshore North West Australia and a two-train LNG plant in Darwin.
With an overall lifespan expectancy of more than 40 years, this facility combines three mega-projects:
The onshore scope of work for the Ichthys development included the construction of two LNG processing trains, product storage tanks, a product loading jetty, a module offloading facility, a combined cycle power plant, utilities, permanent building facilities and an accommodation village and was contracted out to JKC Australia LNG - a joint venture between JGC Corporation, KBR and Chiyoda Corporation - in order to deliver the engineering, procurement supply, construction and commissioning (EPC).
Under the Transport Access Program, Transport for NSW has completed statewide accessibility upgrades and constructed new commuter car parks, incl.:
Peer Advisory Group was involved as the Commercial Lead for the management and administration of relevant contracts with the civil contractor, Stephen Edwards.
The involvement also included the discussions and settlements around the so-called COVID-Construction Claims.
The Carmichael coal deposit lies across a 200-km² area in the northern part of Galilee Basin, approximately 160-km north-west of Clermont in Central Queensland.
The Carmichael deposit comprises Late Permian coal seams mainly found in three formations:
The mine is estimated to contain ten billion tonnes of JORC-compliant thermal coal resources, including 3.4 billion tonnes of measured and indicated resources. The Carmichael mine is expected to have an operating life of approximately 60 years.
The capital investment for the initial construction and pre-production activities has been scaled down to US$2.8BN.
KAZ Minerals is a high growth copper company focused on large scale, low cost, open pit mining in Kazakhstan, Russia and Kyrgyzstan. It operates the Aktogay and Bozshakol open pit copper mines in the East Region and Pavlodar region of Kazakhstan, which have delivered industry leading production growth and transformed KAZ Minerals into a company dominated by world class, open pit copper mines.
Bozshakol is a first quartile asset on the global cost curve with an annual ore processing capacity of 30 million tonnes and a remaining mine life of approx. 40 years at an average copper grade of 0.36%.
Aktogay is a large scale, open pit mine, which commenced production of copper cathode from oxide ore in December 2015 and copper in concentrate from sulphide ore in February 2017. The operating sulphide concentrator has an annual ore processing capacity of 25 million tonnes and the sulphide processing capacity will be doubled to 50 million tonnes with the addition of a second concentrator by the end of 2021.
